From News Center (Text by Xiao Jude, School of General Education; Photo by Wei Bipeng and Xiao Jude, School of General Education) On December 13, the Work Summary Meeting and Award Ceremony for the Guangxi Division of the 2025 China Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling (CUMCM) was held at Guangxi Normal University. Wei Bipeng, Deputy Dean of the School of General Education at Liuzhou Polytechnic University (LZPU), and Xiao Jude, a core faculty member of the mathematics teaching team, attended the meeting and were named "Excellent Instructors" in the Guangxi Division in recognition of their outstanding coaching performance.

At the 2025 CUMCM, LZPU's participating teams—drawing on solid mathematical foundations, strong innovation and effective teamwork—won three Second Prizes at the national level, and one First Prize and two Third Prizes at the Guangxi regional level. These results place LZPU among the top institutions in Guangxi. LZPU was also awarded the title of "Outstanding Organizing Unit" in the Guangxi Division in recognition of its solid and efficient organizational efforts.

The School of General Education coordinated the competition preparations, establishing a comprehensive "selection–training–sprint" process: Outstanding students were chosen through campus competitions to form teams; experienced teachers were appointed as coaches; and targeted instruction and training were provided across key modules—modeling strategies, hands‑on software practice, and paper‑writing standards—laying a solid foundation for competition readiness. During the competition, the teams endured intense pressure, worked around the clock, coordinated through a clear division of labor, and efficiently completed their tasks.

These awards not only affirm LZPU students' comprehensive abilities but also validate the effectiveness of the university's reforms in mathematical modeling instruction and its talent development model. Looking ahead, LZPU will continue to deepen related teaching practices, further stimulate students' innovative potential and practical skills, and support them in achieving greater success in academic competitions.
